The role As the Marine Standards Superintendent , you will play a critical role in ensuring TasPorts’ Marine Operations Division meets all regulatory and compliance obligations. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining quality assurance processes, conducting safety and compliance assessments, and leading change management initiatives for new operational marine fleet assets. You’ll also champion the marine management systems and provide coverage for fleet team members when required. Key Duties Develop and oversee systems to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and statutory requirements. Conduct regular vessel audits to maintain conformance with flag, class, and TasPorts standards. Lead and contribute to incident investigations involving TasPorts-owned fleet vessels. Provide expert advice on regulatory changes and implement associated standards and practices. Drive the implementation and ongoing support of marine management systems, including planned maintenance, vessel certification, and compliance. Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for fleet operations. Assist in emergency response, drills, and marine risk management. Recommend and implement marine assurance frameworks and standard such as ISM Code. Represent TasPorts at internal and external forums and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate Management of Change (MoC) activities across the fleet. Monitor survey schedules and liaise with surveyors and service contractors. Participate in external audits and forums related to marine operations and emergency preparedness. About you You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in maritime operations and compliance. You thrive in dynamic environments, can work autonomously, and have excellent interpersonal skills to influence and build trust across teams. Your leadership style is collaborative, and you are committed to fostering an inclusive and safety-focused culture. What you will have Demonstrated experience in a similar role within a port or maritime environment. Strong understanding of Australian and international shipping regulations and standards (MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM, ISPS, MLC, STCW, NSCV Code). Proven ability in emergency preparedness and response. High digital literacy, including fleet management systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Relevant qualifications in marine, mechanical, or electrical fields. Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) and hold a current Tasmanian unrestricted driver’s licence. (Desirable) Formal auditing or quality assurance qualifications and Certificate IV in Training & Assessment. Where to next?
