The Tamar Valley Power Station was originally commissioned by Aurora Energy in 2009 and acquired by AETV Pty Ltd (AETV) in June 2013 as a subsidiary company of Hydro Tasmania. The 386 MW station comprises 208 MW of Combined Cycle Gas generation (CCGT) and 178 MW of Open Cycle Gas generation (OCGT). AETV operates as part of the Hydro Tasmania asset fleet, an organisation that, with the help of over 30,000 people over more than 100 years, has built, maintained, and refurbished power infrastructure across Tasmania. Our recruitment practices are merit-based and focused on building diversity About the role: To put it simply…You will support the delivery of maintenance activities for the electrical elements of our assets at the Tamar Valley Power Station, ensuring these assets operate efficiently and reliably. As an Electrical Technician, you will be… Planning and delivering electrical maintenance activities, including outages and routine work. Diagnosing and solving electrical issues using root cause analysis and predictive techniques. Maintaining accurate records in the CMMS and reporting on progress and trends. Providing technical advice and sourcing parts and services to keep the plant running smoothly. Collaborating with the team, sharing knowledge, and adapting to new technologies and changes. Keeping yourself and others safe by following safety systems, procedures, and regulations. Participate in the call-out roster, liaise with contractors, and source maintenance goods and services You’re a qualified Electrical Technician with a current license and experience in LV/HV distribution, electrical testing, and fault finding. Skilled in interpreting schematics, coordinating electrical activities, and leading teams, you bring strong problem-solving abilities, planning skills, and a commitment to OH&S. Your background includes supervisory experience, excellent communication, and proficiency with computer systems. Desirable extras include instrumentation, fire protection systems, and exposure to generation environments, HV switchyards, and industrial communication systems. Haven’t convinced you yet?
