Shift Manager – Stevedoring Operations Port: Melbourne | Full-time, Permanent | Career Growth Opportunity About Our Client Linx Cargo Care Group is a leading provider of port and logistics solutions across Australia. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Shift Manager with a strong background in stevedoring or related port operations or from warehousing/logistics or transport to join our Melbourne team. This is a hands‑on leadership role within a 24/7, heavily unionised environment, requiring resilience, strong communication, and the ability to build trust while ensuring safety and operational excellence. About the Role As Shift Manager, you will: Oversee daily stevedoring operations, ensuring safe and efficient loading/unloading of vessels. Lead, motivate, and support a diverse workforce to achieve operational and safety targets. Manage shift labour allocations and equipment to meet tight shipping schedules. Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, working proactively to resolve issues and de‑escalate conflict. Foster a high‑performance, safety‑first culture through coaching, toolbox talks, and observations. Work across a rotating roster of day, afternoon, and night shifts to support a true 24/7 operation. Your Experience Proven shift management experience in stevedoring, wharf, or related heavy logistics operations, warehousing and logistics or transport. Strong knowledge of working in a unionised environment, with the ability to interpret agreements and maintain constructive relationships. A resilient and pragmatic leadership style with the ability to stay calm under pressure. Excellent communication and people management skills, with a focus on accountability and respect. Strong planning, organisational, and problem‑solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). A strong commitment to safety and compliance at all times.
