Lead Network Architect – 12 Month Contract Brisbane or Melbourne Hybrid working model About the Role This role leads the network architecture direction for a major, multi-year enterprise network modernisation program. The program is transitioning to a modern IP-based network, incorporating terrestrial, microwave and satellite connectivity, and shifting to a multi-vendor service delivery model. As the Lead Network Architect, you’ll guide architecture strategy, oversee solution design, work closely with delivery partners and internal stakeholders, and ensure seamless integration across highly complex and distributed environments. Key Responsibilities Define and lead enterprise network architecture across the transformation program. Provide technical leadership from design and planning through to implementation and operational readiness. Review and endorse solution documentation and architectural artefacts. Work closely with project managers to ensure delivery alignment and resourcing. Coordinate with internal technical SMEs, vendors and delivery partners. Chair or contribute to technical forums and design governance discussions. Resolve complex technical challenges and de-risk transitions. Communicate architecture decisions and progress to senior stakeholders. About You Proven experience leading large-scale network transformation initiatives. Strong technical depth across IP networking, network security and distributed enterprise network environments. Experience with hybrid, satellite, microwave and terrestrial network technologies. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capability, able to articulate technical strategy clearly. Skilled at navigating multi-vendor and multi-stakeholder environments. Able to influence technical direction and drive alignment across complex delivery structures. Highly Regarded Experience in aviation, transport, critical infrastructure or other safety‑critical environments. TOGAF or relevant architecture certifications. Familiarity with SIAM models, ITIL, security and governance frameworks. Mandatory Australian Citizenship (required to obtain Baseline Security Clearance).
