Budget Ride is Australia’s newest rideshare platform, currently in beta testing and preparing for wider rollout. We’re building a fair and transparent system for drivers and a smooth, reliable experience for riders. We’re looking for a Senior Full‑Stack Mobile Developer to join us on a contract basis. You’ll work across the React Native mobile app, the Python FastAPI backend, and our AWS environment. This is a high‑ownership role suited to someone who enjoys building real products end‑to‑end in a lean, fast‑moving team. What you’ll be doing Develop and maintain the Budget Ride mobile apps (iOS and Android) using React Native. Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Python FastAPI. Work with AWS services to support our architecture, deployments, and operational reliability. Develop features central to rideshare workflows: user onboarding, authentication, driver onboarding, ride requests, live location updates, notifications, trip tracking, and payments. Solve challenges typical of real‑time mobility apps, such as geolocation accuracy, latency, background tasks, and reliable communication between client and server. Improve app stability, performance, and user experience as we move through beta and into wider release. Take ownership of technical decisions and work independently within a small, focused product team. What we’re looking for Strong experience building production React Native apps. Solid backend development experience in Python , ideally with FastAPI or similar frameworks. Hands‑on experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Cognito, S3, EC2 or similar). A genuine ability to work independently across front end, backend, and cloud infrastructure. Good judgement, clear communication, and a practical approach to solving problems. Experience with real‑time features like location tracking, background tasks, notifications, or WebSockets is a bonus. What we offer A 6‑month contract with competitive rates.
