Australian Earth Science Education – Sydney CBD NSW Lead Educator 0.8 FTE $108,498 + 12% superannuation (at full-time, pro-rated for part-time) Sydney, New South Wales 12 months Australian & New Zealand citizens, and Australian Permanent and Temporary residents who have full work rights for the duration of this contract Reports to Chief Executive Officer Number of Direct Reports = 0 Hybrid work options available. Position to commence on 12 January 2026 or as soon as is possible thereafter (but no later than February 23). Role Overview AusEarthEd is the national trading entity for Earth Science Western Australia (ESWA), a not-for-profit organisation that has been a leader in providing resources in earth sciences education in Australia since 2005. This innovative organisation produces curriculum resources, trains educators, provides hands‑on educational experiences for students (Kindergarten to Year 12) and promotes earth sciences to a wide‑ranging audience across Western Australia, New South Wales and the Northern Territory ( The NSW based Lead Educator will work with the Chief Executive Officer and the staff team to continuously improve the quality of earth sciences education for students and educators across Australia, with a particular focus on NSW. Duties and Key Result Areas Present Earth and Environmental Science material to senior secondary students and Earth Science material to lower secondary students. Organise and present seminars for educators. Lead the development and implementation of all New South Wales based programs and activities, liaising with the CEO and Operations Officer on contracts, implementation plans, resourcing, budgets and reporting. Lead the development of resources for New South Wales. Develop and maintain networks of key parties including, but not limited to, educators, like-minded outreach organisations, key stakeholders and interested parties within the resources industry. Lead initiatives to raise our profile throughout NSW, including marketing campaigns. Organise events to launch initiatives and resources or promote Earth Science. Work closely with the CEO to grow sponsorships within NSW. Seek opportunities to collaborate with other parties in the best interests of the organisation. Deliver training on procedural issues or systems developments to team members. Communicate openly, effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of AusEarthEd’s reputation. Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to carry out tasks in support of AusEarthEd’s objectives. Adhere to the spirit and practice of AusEarthEd’s procedures and policies. Other duties as directed by the CEO. Criteria Education/Qualifications: A recognised tertiary qualification in Education or other relevant field and/or equivalent experience. Security Clearance: A current and valid working with children check and national police clearance, or ability and willingness to obtain these clearances prior to commencement. Communication: High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent AusEarthEd effectively. Behaviours: A history of professional and respectful behaviours and attitudes in a collaborative environment. Demonstrable evidence of a passion for educating students in Earth and Environmental Sciences. The ability and willingness to travel within Australia, including overnight (or longer) stays, and to work flexibly outside standard hours when required. A current driver's license and motor vehicle that can be used for work purposes (mileage allowance will be provided). Two years or more experience teaching in a school classroom or outreach setting. Familiarity with the NSW HSC examination system and Earth & Environmental Science syllabus. Experience in and/or good working knowledge of earth sciences. Experience training educators and writing curriculum resources. Experience with the Microsoft 365 suite.
