Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'. Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly. ChCV The Children's Court of Victoria (ChCV) is a specialist court that hears and determines cases in two divisions. The Family Division hears and determines cases involving the care and protection of Victorian children who are at risk of harm. The Criminal Division hears and determines the criminal charges brought against children between the ages of 10-17 years. As a specialist and dedicated court, we are able to focus solely on responding to the particular needs and interests of children, young people and their families. This focus guides our approach to the delivery of judicial, dispute resolution, registry and support services, as well as the physical environment of our courts. The ChCV expertly and fairly applies the law in cases involving children and young people. We work closely with youth justice, legal services, child protection and other community-based services to provide a multi-disciplinary court response to address the best interest of children in need of protection, whilst promoting the accountability and rehabilitation of young offenders and in doing so, improving community safety. About the Role The Court Security and Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for providing operational and advisory support to the ChCV in the implementation, management and evaluation of security systems, incidents, and protocols, and in the management of emergency managed procedures, with the aim of mitigating risk and ensuring the continuity of court operations. Duties Provide specialised advice and leadership to employees, the judiciary and court users on security processes and emergency management. Manage the security notification and triage process at specialist ChCV locations. Coordinate security arrangements for court hearings and events, including maintaining security spreadsheets and calendar of additional security requests. Develop and implement the coordination of emergency response training and raise security awareness by developing and delivering security inductions for new employees and refresher sessions for existing employees and court users, helping to create a positive and strong security culture across ChCV. Develop and implement security prevention and de‑escalation practices and strategies to promote safety and security at the specialist ChCV locations. About You The ideal candidate will have demonstrated extensive experience in security, policing or related fields delivering a security response to large and complex security incidents involving key partner law enforcement agencies, preferably in a court environment. You will also have: Strong planning and problem‑solving skills. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability skills, adjusting your approach in line with changing priorities. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to use various communication media to convey information, ideas, and insights in ways that maximises understanding of key messages. Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities to objectively analyse and evaluate available data, points of view, needs of stakeholders and potential solutions before recommending relevant actions or decisions. A superior standard of service excellence with the commitment to delivering quality outcomes and services.
