We are seeking an experienced Transport Operations Supervisor to join the team at the VIC Depot based in Altona. This newly created position will work closely with the Branch Manager, PM Supervisor and National Operations Manager to create and maintain a safe and cost‑effective operation that ensures both Niche’s customers and team members can be at their best every day Your great attitude, fast thinking and people‑leadership capabilities will be highly regarded. Location: Altona Shift allocation: Monday – Thursday 7am‑3pm, Friday 7am‑6pm NOTE: All candidates who apply after Monday 22 December will be contacted from Monday 5 January 2026. The Role Supervise the transport & logistics function, including load maximisation and time management of depot staff. Daily management of the business to achieve planned/budgeted KPIs, cost outcomes, safety measures, and service levels. Ensure efficient, safe, and secure loading, unloading, movement and packing of freight. Lead and mentor direct reports, creating a customer‑first culture that delivers great results. Work alongside Branch leadership, drivers and operations support to ensure the shift runs according to plan. Effectively communicate with team members and key stakeholders. Perform quality checks on materials/stock and identify and report damages, shortages or quality deficiencies. Ensure accurate loading documentation is completed. Inspect machinery, including forklifts and other control equipment, to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance in accordance with the site’s WHS practices. Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs. Continuously improve systems and processes. Experience Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Background in express freight preferable. Forklift license (desirable). Competence with Microsoft programs. Strong written, verbal communication and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge & experience with CoR regulations and compliance relating to the transport industry. Good working knowledge of express transport operations. Good working knowledge of FMCG transport operations. Resilience, passion, and ability to work under pressure. Strong focus on safety and compliance. Motivated self‑starter who can work autonomously with attention to detail. High level of motivation and energy with a strong focus on achieving outstanding customer‑experience results.
