Geophysical Field Technician (FIFO, DIDO) For this Brisbane based role, we are seeking experienced field technicians for our minerals exploration crews. Responsibilities and Requirements When assessing candidates, highest priority factors for us are: Fit and healthy – you must be able to walk up to 20km per day, in rugged terrain and in challenging weather (i.e. hot). Willingness to travel to remote areas of Australia for extended swings (usually 3 weeks maximum). Nice to have but not essential are: Experience operating a 4WD in challenging conditions. Experience in operating an ATV (quad bike) and UTV safely. Current first aid certificate. Understanding of using a GPS. Understanding of the co-ordinate systems commonly used in Australia. Mechanical and technical competence. The most successful field technicians are people who have good attention to detail and do not dither. The ability to work with minimal supervision, learn quickly and take instruction from our experienced crew leaders and project managers will be key to success. We work a ten hour day in the field (including travel to and from site) so it is a good job for the early riser. Our field crews are our frontline client relationship managers, representing the company right at the coal face – so well developed interpersonal and communication skills are highly regarded. An interest in geophysics is helpful, and many of our field technicians have been graduate geophysicists or geologists who are seeking practical experience. There is room to move in the role for the right person.
