Site co‑ordinator – Do you love to dance and would like to share your skills with young people with disabilities? Emotion 21 – Changing the views of people with Downs Syndrome – Rowville, VIC. The program volunteer or Mover supports the teacher in the class to ensure each emotion21 participant is engaged, learning, and participating. The goal is to help participants access the benefits of the program: developing movement skills, experiencing psychological benefits (joy of movement, new friendships, sense of belonging), and growing social skills through teamwork. The role of the class mover can be likened to that of an assistant coach (with the teacher being the coach). The Mover encourages full participation, believes in the participants' potential, and helps bring out their best. Guided by the teacher and customizing your style to suit each individual’s needs, your role is to assist participants in developing their skills to the best of their ability. You are a role model in class with contagious enthusiasm and positivity. The teacher may assign you different roles such as assisting with behaviour management, providing one‑on‑one support, or acting as a class role model and following the teacher’s instructions. You demonstrate the emotion21 core values of CARE , RESPECT , FUN and LEARN in all interactions, and when all else fails you are not afraid to…dance There are no pre‑requisite qualifications for this position. We are seeking a team player who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Down syndrome and their families. Volunteer Duties Creating a welcoming and engaging environment for families and participants Encouraging, inspiring, and motivating participation Acting as a communication pathway between head office, parents, and teachers Marking attendance rolls, setting up and packing down the site, and monitoring OH&S standards within the venue Adhering to and promoting compliance with Inclusion Foundation policy, procedures, and vision Being involved in planning and executing local community performance events, including the annual concert (in September) Assisting as required in promoting the emotion21 site Additional Information Category: Arts & Culture Commitment: Regular – more than 6 months Time Required: Thursdays 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM & 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Term Dates: Term 1: 01/02/2024 – 28/03/2024 Term 2: 18/04/2024 – 27/06/2024 Term 3: 18/07/2024 – 19/09/2024 Term 4: 10/10/2024 – 19/12/2024 Training: Yes Safe‑job reminder: Do not provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.
