Job Category: School Support Staff (Ancillary) St Joseph's Primary School, East Maitland, is seeking a Permanent Part Time (14 hours per week) Groundsperson to join in 2026 We’re on the lookout for a dedicated Groundsperson to join our school community. If you love fresh air, don’t mind a bit of dirt under your nails, and take pride in keeping spaces looking their best — this could be the perfect role for you. About the Role 14 hours per week – the ideal candidate will be available to work between the hours of 7am – 6pm; negotiable with the successful person. Help keep our school grounds safe, tidy, and welcoming. A mix of mowing, gardening, light maintenance, and the occasional heroic rescue of a runaway soccer ball. Work in a friendly environment where staff and students will appreciate your efforts every single day. What We’re Looking For Someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in a job well done. A practical problem-solver who can handle tools, tasks, and the occasional mystery of “how did that end up there?” A team player who values being part of a supportive Catholic school community. The Groundsperson under the direction of the principal contributes to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of maintenance and upkeep of the school’s grounds. The Groundsperson will be required to support the school with (including but not limited to) building and grounds maintenance, cleaning and opening/closing the school premises. Desired Skills and Experience EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school Demonstrated experience performing maintenance tasks unsupervised; Demonstrated ability to manage the school’s maintenance program; Experience in managing and maintaining school grounds and buildings or similar experience; Experience or willingness to comply with relevant security provisions; Demonstrated understanding of current Work Health and Safety requirements. QUALIFICATIONS Certificate III or Trade Certificate in relevant field (desirable) Current paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
