We have an exciting opportunity for you to lead transformative programs and projects that elevate young people’s engagement and participation in shaping government decision-making. This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identified role under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld). Only applications from Aboriginal people and/or Torres Strait Islander people will be considered for this role. Travel across the state may be required. What You Will Be Doing Lead programs and projects to deliver outcomes in line with youth policy priorities and objectives and facilitate program engagement activities to support youth priorities across Government. Lead development and implementation of the Queensland Indigenous Youth Leadership Program (the program) to ensure program success for First Nations young people and broader community impact. Lead proactive management of internal and external relationships including establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with Queensland's First Nations young people and their communities to underpin the success of the program and achieve strategic outcomes. Contribute to innovative delivery of a suite of projects to sustain the program and accelerate the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and communities, and other First Nation partners. Provide high level support to develop, prepare and review resources and products to support the growth of engagement approaches to deliver the program and broader departmental objectives. Undertake research and assist in the preparation of project plans, documents, reports, briefings, and executive correspondence. Participate as a proactive team member in contributing to the team and branch outcomes and supervise and mentor staff as required to build capability and resilience within the team. Foster a workplace culture that strengthens and promotes the interests of First Nations peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples. The Skills You Will Need Include Demonstrated first‑hand knowledge of cultural protocols and mechanisms for appropriately engaging with First Nations people and the ability to facilitate and engage in productive and collaborative working relationships. Knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of policy, legislation, and frameworks as they relate to young people. Demonstrated practical experience in the delivery of programs and events and the development of plans and strategies as they relate to achieving the aspirations and goals of First Nations people. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills and proven ability to appropriately engage young people, community, and stakeholders, and prepare reports and executive correspondence. Project management skills, including the ability to plan work effectively, manage competing priorities, navigate change and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement to achieve outcomes on time and within budget. Mandatory Requirement This role provides education, coaching and/or support services to children and young people and therefore a valid Blue Card with the organisation.
