Software Engineers (Senior & Junior) – Python / Machine Learning Location: Victoria – ClaytonEmployment Type: Contract (with potential for extension) About the Role We’re seeking two talented Software Engineers — one Senior Python Developer and one Junior Python Developer — to join a forward-thinking, research-driven technology environment. You’ll be working with cutting-edge machine learning frameworks, large datasets, and collaborative multidisciplinary teams to design, build, and optimise AI-powered solutions that make real-world impact. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to exciting projects focused on modern machine learning applications, software optimisation, and scalable data-driven systems. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Python-based software applications and ML models. Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and researchers to deliver innovative AI solutions. Implement and fine-tune machine learning algorithms using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, or Ultralytics . Optimise model performance, evaluate accuracy metrics, and ensure scalability and reliability. Develop APIs and integrate systems within enterprise-scale architectures. Manage code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks. Preprocess, annotate, and transform data for model development and evaluation. Work within Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum or Kanban) to achieve key outcomes. About You Senior Python Developer Minimum 5 years’ experience in Python software development. Proven experience leading and managing software development projects using Jira, GitLab, or GitHub Projects . Strong grasp of CI/CD, version control, and automated testing . Experience in AI/ML model development with modern frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, Ultralytics). Understanding of transformer architectures, CNNs, and large language models (LLMs) . Comfortable working with large datasets and data transformation workflows. Junior Python Developer Minimum 2 years’ experience in Python software development. Exposure to Agile development practices and project tracking tools. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and testing frameworks . Interest or experience in developing and fine-tuning machine learning models. Foundational understanding of AI model architectures and data preparation techniques. Essential Skills Strong foundation in machine learning algorithms and data science frameworks . Ability to implement algorithms from research into scalable production systems. Experience in model evaluation and benchmarking using relevant metrics.Skilled in API development and system integration . Proficient with collaboration tools including Git, issue tracking, and documentation systems. Desirable Skills Deep Learning Frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow ML Libraries: NumPy, Hugging Face, Ultralytics (YOLO/DETR) MLOps Tools: Weights & Biases (W&B), MLflow Web Frameworks: Django, FastAPI, Flask Workflow Tools: NiFi, Prefect, Airflow Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes Front-end exposure: HTML, CSS, JavaScript Experience with REST APIs and microservice architectures What’s in it for You Work with cutting-edge AI and machine learning technologies.
