Lead Observability Engineer – Elastic Specialist We are seeking an experienced Lead Observability Engineer – Elastic Specialist to join our team in Sydney, Australia. In this role you will design, implement, and maintain observability solutions using the Elastic Stack and other industry‑leading tools, working closely with development teams to ensure applications are highly observable and issues can be identified and resolved quickly. Responsibilities Design and implement observability solutions using Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, and Logstash. Collaborate with development teams to integrate observability tools and practices into the application lifecycle. Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues leveraging log data, metrics, and traces. Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and visualizations to provide visibility into application performance and health. Optimize and tune the Elastic Stack for performance and scalability. Contribute to the development of observability best practices and standards. Mentor and guide other engineers on observability concepts and tools. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the observability space. Qualifications Proven expertise in observability tools and practices, particularly the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, Logstash). Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java. Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Fluentd). Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Strong communication and documentation skills. Experience in leading and mentoring teams (preferred). Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture (preferred). Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices (preferred). Relevant certifications (e.g., Elastic Certified Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) (preferred). Understanding of modern application architectures and observability best‑practices. Experience designing and implementing observability solutions for large‑scale, distributed systems.
