About the Role We are seeking an Observability Engineer to drive our Corporate Technology team in Sydney. You will shape our observability strategy, lead the expansion and deep integration of Dynatrace, and transform raw telemetry data into actionable insights. Key Responsibilities Lead Dynatrace adoption across new business units and applications, ensuring comprehensive visibility into distributed systems. Collaborate with engineering teams to define standards for instrumentation, logging, and tracing, and establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets. Provide expert guidance and training on Dynatrace best practices, including DQL usage, to increase observability literacy. Run enablement sessions, demo new features, and pair on DQL to showcase insights to stakeholders. Design and implement automated problem remediation workflows to reduce manual toil and improve resilience. Build and maintain advanced dashboards, notebooks, and alerts using DQL tailored to different audiences. Automate deployment and configuration of observability agents across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, and document processes. Embed observability in the software development lifecycle and ITSM processes such as change, release, and service transition management. Identify and respond to anomalies or performance degradations, leading root cause analysis during production incidents. Continuously refine the Dynatrace environment, tuning detection rules, anomaly detection, integrations, and workflows to capture relevant data and minimize noise. Support the Observability Centre of Excellence by creating knowledge articles and maintaining documentation. Assist stakeholders via chat or ServiceNOW tickets, ensuring timely support and continuous improvement of practices. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in software engineering, system design, or DevOps with a focus on observability. Deep understanding of metrics, logs, and distributed traces and their interrelations. Dynatrace Associate or Professional certification, and hands‑on experience administering and using the platform. Proficiency in Dynatrace Query Language (DQL). Experience with Azure or GCP cloud environments and containerized architectures (Docker, Kubernetes). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to conduct deep‑dive analysis. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, translating technical concepts for business stakeholders. Curiosity and structured approach to troubleshooting, turning data points into clear narratives. Solid understanding of ITIL 4 principles. Experience creating reports and dashboards for data‑driven decision making. Familiarity with JavaScript, Glide API, ServiceNow automation workflows is a plus. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Dynatrace Monaco, Ansible) and CI/CD concepts (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) is highly desirable. Experience implementing OpenTelemetry and tracking SLOs/SLIs and error budgets is a plus. Benefits Flexible working arrangements.
