Selection Criteria

SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.

Role

The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.

As the classroom teacher gains experience his or her contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience of the teacher.


Classroom teacher Range 2
Range 2 classroom teachers play a significant role in assisting the school to improve studr program known as The Middle Years Certificate. Over the course of this time, students are invited and provided opportunities to participate in additional activities such as excursions, incursions, community projects and leadership ventures. These activities are recorded and acknowledged at the end of Year 9 when students are awarded their Completion Certificate at a celebratory ceremony.

The Willandra Learning Neighbourhood incorporates a Prep to Year 12 Student Pathways Centre and teaching and learning spaces for our Years 11 and 12 students. A Study Centre is located within the central area of this facility, supporting students to connect, create and learn collaboratively and individually as required. At the same time, half of the building converts into a Senior Years student assessment and examination centre when necessary. A Community Hub has also been incorporated into this facility to support and expand our numerous business and community alliances. An administration area is located in the building to service the needs of Middle Years and Years 11 and 12 students. Senior staff, teachers and the Years 11 and 12 Student Management team are on hand to support students.

In Term 2 this year we welcomed the addition of a new facility in the form of a double storey building known as Nottingham. It consists of 8 general purpose classrooms (that can be transformed into another student assessment/examination centre), an Art space, a Science classroom, two computer labs, student breakout spaces, staff workrooms and staff amenities. This state-of-the-art project accommodates the learning needs of our Year 10 students. The Year 10 Mini School Administration and Student Management office is also located in this building for ease of access for our students.
