The duties of a police officer The duties of a police officer working with the community preventing anti-social behaviour promoting public safety enforcing road safety The possibilities of this role The possibilities of this role enjoying multiple opportunities for career progression learning specialist skills in fields such as the Critical Incident Response Team, Highway Patrol or Forensics (after completing a period as a general duties officer) mentoring others in your team or acting as a community liaison About you About you people who are 18 years or older strong communication skills (verbal and written) healthy level of fitness good character and reputation Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents (New Zealand citizens must have a Special Category visa or the ability to obtain one to apply) an Australian or New Zealand driver licence, however, you must transfer to a Victorian licence before commencing employment (probationary licence is acceptable) Salary and benefits Salary and benefits We offer job security and a range of great perks including flexible rostering, on the job training and professional development. Once you are sworn in as a constable, you will be paid a starting salary of $81,612 plus allowances per annum. In addition, there are shift penalties and overtime payments available, and as you advance in the ranks, so does your wage. Allowances and leave: Great work life balance with up to nine weeks recreation leave and 16 weeks parental leave, plus study leave, long-service leave and additional superannuation. Paid training: You are paid a salary of $59,405 per annum during your 12 weeks of training at the Victoria Police Academy. Specialise after a period of time and receive training and support to progress through the ranks. Salary and benefits are as per the current Victoria Police Enterprise Agreement.
