Transgrid's award-winning Pre-Apprentice Program for Women is back in 2026 This 5-week program is designed to give you a real taste of life as a Transmission Line Worker or Substation Electrician. You’ll train alongside highly skilled technicians, gain hands-on experience with live work crews, and take part in nationally recognised training that provides credits towards future electrical supply industry (ESI) qualifications. What’s included? All training, travel, PPE and accommodation expenses covered by Transgrid. Interactive, practical learning experiences – from hand skills and wiring tasks, to substation and power station tours. Exposure to real-world electrical work environments at our depots across NSW and ACT. Supportive mentors and trainers to guide you every step of the way. This is your chance to explore the industry before committing to a full apprenticeship – and at the end of the program, a select number of dedicated individuals will be invited to apply for an ongoing apprenticeship with Transgrid. Program Locations: Yass Orange Newcastle Tamworth Wallgrove Who we’re looking for To be considered for the program, you should have: A genuine interest in the electrical supply industry. The ability to travel and stay away from home during work experience activities. Transport to your local depot for in-person training and activities. Completion (or near completion) of Year 10 studies. Commitment to attend and complete the 5-week program schedule.
