Expressions of Interest – Narrabri Shire Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee Expressions of Interest are being sought for one (1) suitably qualified person for the vacant member position on the Narrabri Shire Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC). The ARIC provides independent assurance, oversight, and assistance to Council by reviewing the following functions in accordance with Section 428A of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) : Compliance; Risk management; Fraud control; Financial management; Governance; Implementation of the strategic plan, delivery program and strategies; Service reviews; Collection of performance measurement data by the Council; and Any other matters prescribed by the regulations. Applicants will be expected to meet the experience, qualification, and independence criteria set out in the Risk Management and Internal Audit Guidelines. Council reserves the right to undertake criminal history, financial and qualification checks as a part of the assessment process. Experience with Internal Audit is desirable, however not essential. The term of membership shall be for two (2) years initially, with the opportunity to extend, subject to a satisfactory performance assessment of the member’s contribution to the ARIC. Independent ARIC members will be paid a sitting fee of $800 per meeting, plus reasonable travel costs.
