Quality Control Officer

That’s Amore Cheese, an Australian company leader in Italian style cheese is currently seeking a Quality Control Officer to join our business Based in Thomastown, we are passionate about delivering high‑quality, delicious cheeses to our customers across various sectors, including food service and supermarkets. We are currently seeking an experienced QC Officer to drive existing quality management systems on site with a strong focus on the daily verification tasks, GMP, Hygiene and the company’s non‑conformance, complaints management and continuous improvement program. This role will be based at our Thomastown manufacturing facility. The role is full‑time and starting at 6am everyday. Responsibilities include: The position will ensure staff, raw material suppliers and third‑party contractors adhere to food safety and HACCP standards and customer quality expectations are met. As part of the QA team the position will also provide technical support and training to site departmental managers and floor staff. The position will be required to attend to site inspections and external audits and will report directly to the QA Manager. This role is ideal for a mature age candidate looking to re‑enter the workforce or a recent university graduate with some hands‑on experience and a willingness to learn and grow. Key Responsibilities: Be familiar with thecompany’s food safety & quality policy, food safety & quality objectives, quality procedures, and work instructions. Understand and comply with legislative requirements for the business, including Food Safety requirements. Ensure knowledge with food safety & quality standards including DFSV and FSANZ and Export Orders. Take necessary action to ensure the integrity of the system is maintained. Support product assessments and shelf-life validations. Perform production checks and pre‑operational inspections. Oversee the retention sample and end of shelf‑life review program. Assist in monitoring the goods receivals. Conduct regular quality assurance and continuous improvement activities promptly. Help coordinate and respond to customer complaints efficiently while maintaining the complaints register. Maintain a professional, friendly, positive approach with customers always. Assist in the coordination of equipment calibration. Contribute to maintaining the sites internal quality audit systems. Support with the Approved Supplier Program. Assist in maintaining the Corrective action/incident report register and closing of any nonconformances in a timely manner. Maintain and update operational and quality prerequisite programs, registers, and QA reports. Complete all HACCP plan verification activities. Assist with maintaining and updating product specifications. The Candidate: At least 2 years of previous QA experience in an FMCG setting, with HACCP or higher GFSI certification/knowledge and ideally from a food technology or science background. Internal audit certification, microbiology knowledge and dairy experience will be an advantage. Demonstrate strong analytical and reporting experiences. Well versed in Microsoft 365, with excellent editing, writing (policies/programs/reports/emails) and multi‑tasking skills. Strong leadership skills and must be well organised with excellent administration skills. Clear communication, interpersonal skills, and fluency in English is a must to drive the sites quality management system. Function independently in completing tasks and must have a proven history of functioning in a team project environment.
