Overview APS6 Senior Communications Officer - Randstad is recruiting for an APS6 Senior Communications Officer to join a federal government client for a 12-month contract. This full-time, hybrid role is based in Geelong and offers a pay rate of $60.26 per hour plus superannuation. The Senior Communications Officer is a team leadership position that provides expert communications advice and support within the Strategic Communications Division. While the role does not have line manager responsibilities, you will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, planning, and resource management skills. Please refer to the Responsibilities and About you sections for more detail. Responsibilities Lead and support the Corporate Publications team with project management and planning. Draft clear, concise communications for different audiences, including key messages, talking points, speeches, and other outputs. Advocate plain English and ensure collateral is accessible and aligns with style and branding guidelines. Lead by example as a trusted communications expert, helping internal stakeholders deliver project objectives by producing timely, relevant, and effective communication plans and collateral. Contribute to the development and delivery of communications plans, coordinate approvals and go-live collateral. Identify and develop important internal stakeholder relationships and address emerging challenges. Evaluate the impact of communications and identify learnings to determine if objectives were achieved. Support team members with administration, technical, and procedural tasks. About you Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail. Ability to self-manage workloads and adapt to shifting priorities. Strong project management and planning skills. Excellent written communication skills for diverse audiences. Proven track record of effective stakeholder management. Ability to support team members with administrative, technical, and procedural tasks. Knowledge of accessible communications, familiarity with the Australian Government Style Manual, and resilience to organizational change are highly desirable.
