The Opportunity: Our Visy Automation team is looking for a hands-on and experienced Field Service Technician to provide on-site technical support for packaging automation equipment. Reporting to the National Service Manager, you’ll work across multiple customer sites to ensure machinery performance, uptime, and customer satisfaction. This is a senior-level, diverse and technical role requiring a current A Grade Electrical Licence , strong PLC experience , and proven field service capability. A degree in Mechatronics or similar is highly regarded. You’ll be involved in installations, preventative maintenance, and fault diagnosis on robotics, PLCs, conveyors, servo motors and drive systems. We’re seeking someone who prides themselves on delivering outstanding customer service , with the ability to build trusted relationships on-site. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior technicians , sharing your knowledge and experience to build team capability and performance. Key Responsibilities: Perform advanced electrical and mechanical service, installation, and repair work on Visy Automation and third-party equipment Troubleshoot and modify PLCs, touchscreen interfaces, robotics, and servo systems Solve mechanical issues and interpret AutoCAD circuit and mechanical diagrams Recommend and implement system improvements; deliver operator training Complete detailed service reports with accurate diagnostics and part recommendations Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and customers to achieve successful outcomes Lead safety compliance across all work environments, including customer sites Mentor and guide junior team members, supporting skills development and knowledge sharing Represent Visy with professionalism, maintaining high standards of customer service at all times What You Will Bring to the Team: Current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence 5+ years of senior field service or maintenance experience in manufacturing, packaging, automation, or similar industries Strong mechanical aptitude or mechanical trade/technical background Hands-on PLC experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron), with robotics, servo drives, pneumatics or hydraulics Strong communication and leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring others A genuine commitment to customer satisfaction and service delivery Flexibility to travel interstate (and occasionally internationally) Certifications & Licences: Mandatory: A Grade Electrical Licence (Victoria) Desirable: ABB or other robotics experience; post-trade qualifications in mechanical, pneumatics or engineering What You’ll Love When You Join Us: Variety: Work across a wide range of automation systems and industries Innovation: Join a high-performing team at the forefront of packaging automation Growth: Be supported with ongoing training and development within Visy Automation Ready to take your technical career on the road?
