By choosing a career with us, you can expect a challenging and fulfilling role surrounded by people who are passionate and have brilliant ideas about sustainable technology, innovation and making the world a better place.Summary of the teamThe structured finance team’s primary focus is leading, structuring and negotiating Lightsource bp’s financings through both project level and corporate level debt, as well as leading M&A and divestments across our operational jurisdictions.In addition, the structured finance team works closely with the global business in making investment decisions.What You’ll do (the role)This role is primarily focused on the quantitative analysis needed to support investment decisions, debt raising and M&A processes globally. This requires a clear understanding of all aspects of solar and financing including (but not limited to) power markets, development processes, engineering, project finance structures, corporate debt structures, debt financing processes, derivative instruments, tax and accounting.In addition, as a structured finance director you will be expected to contribute to the management of the wider structured finance team and contribute to strategic direction of the team.Duties and responsibilitiesLeadershipContribute to the management of the team to meet deadlinesManage the development and progression of junior members of the teamChallenge and drive improvements to existing processesDesign, develop and implement new processes such as how we look at new technologies or adapt to market changes and new market challengesTake ownership of the qualitative aspects of project and portfolio financingsDetermine the optimal hedging strategy for the project and the wider business using FX/Inflation/IRS productsScope and management of required project advisors in conjunction with cross-functional supportReview and analysis all project relevant documentationReview of required information memorandums and investment papersInvestment DecisionsOversee the design, develop and implementation of regional specific models and processes used by regional development teams to make investment decisionsHave a clear understanding of power markets, engineering implications, tax, accounting and project financing in all our operational jurisdictionsReview investment papers and models prepared by regional development teamsCollaborate with regional development teams to assess investment opportunitiesCollaborate with regional development teams to ensure bankable solutions, whilst highlighting key deal issues and areas of exposureCollaborate with regional development teams to establish long term strategies based on upcoming pipeline and development opportunitiesAcquisitionsTake ownership of the asset valuationCoordinate and collaborate with different matter experts to determine the asset valuationPerform investor due diligence processes and managing external advisors where requiredPrepare investment papers of for senior managementAssisting in execution of M&A transactionDivestmentsReview IM’s and models used in the divestment processesCoordinate and collaborate with different matter experts to maximise asset valuationDetermine the optimal divestment strategies to maximise profitManage external advisors where requiredWho we’re looking forEXPERIENCEStrong leadership skills with experience of leading teams and an ability to motivate, inspire and guide othersDemonstrable proven experience within the financial sector with strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as project finance knowledgeAn interest in renewable energy is an advantage but not a requirementAdvance excel financial modelling capabilities, proficient in VBA and proven ability to work well with different teamsPERSONAL/WORK SKILLSAble to build and run pro-forma financial models for raising project finance, making investment decisions and M&A valuationsStrong communication skills including the ability to explain complex concepts to key stakeholdersAble to draft and prepare presentation materials including deal teasers, management presentations, and other supporting documentation and analysisA high standard of work and attention to detailsAble to work under pressure and with tight deadlinesProven reliability and ability to cope with last-minute schedule changesHigh motivation, flexible can-do attitude, entrepreneurial “self-starter” mindset and problem-solving capabilitiesFluency in English is essential, other languages is an advantageHighly organised, plan ahead and be comfortable delivering complex projects to tight deadlinesDetail orientated, comfortable querying information received and able to take accountability for the accuracy and quality of models across the board, i.e. including those not operated by selfThrive in fast moving and growing business – continually challenging how things are done in the interest of improving the systems, processes and the quality of modelsWhy you’ll want to work for usOur company is a place where you can be yourself and grow – a place where your ideas and opinions matter.Be youWe pride ourselves on being an inclusive community, where every individual is valued and treated with respect.Be responsibleOur culture is driven by our core values.
