Morning Star Marine is a key player in the marine maintenance industry in Cairns, and is an industry‑leading business that supports organisations such as the Navy, Border Force, commercial vessels and more through innovative on‑site machining solutions. About the role This full‑time role is based in Koah, QLD 4881, offering hands‑on training in marine maintenance, line boring, on‑site machining, propeller repairs and general engineering. In this role you will learn how to line‑bore, both on site and in the workshop, and how to operate metal lathes and milling machines. Morning Star Marine is also heavily involved in the repair and refurnishment of marine propellers, and will give the successful applicant the opportunity to learn the unique skill of propeller repair. What you'll be doing Learn core skills in mechanical engineering, welding, and metalworking. Assist experienced fitters and turners in the maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment, including but not limited to marine vessels and earth‑moving equipment, through on‑the‑job training and an apprenticeship programme. Develop expertise in the use of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment. Contribute to the efficient and safe operation of the workshop.
