The Advisor, Executive Services plays a key role in delivering high-quality people and culture outcomes by providing accurate, timely HR policy advice and guidance across the full employment lifecycle of Executives. This role sits within the Business Partnering and Advisory Services Branch and provides essential support across Executive Services. It prepares executive benchmarking and contract documentation, coordinates weekly executive appointment and remuneration processes, and contributes to executive inductions and the evaluation and grading of senior roles. Working closely with senior stakeholders, the position helps meet departmental and whole-of-government requirements. With strong attention to detail, a service-focused mindset and sound judgement, the Advisor, Executive Services delivers consistent, high-quality HR advisory support to senior leaders and executives. Position Accountabilities Effectively contribute to the end-to-end cycle of Executive employment to ensure that the Department has the requisite capability to deliver its objectives and has complied with all legislative and policy frameworks in relation to the employment of Executives. Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders Effectively works with multiple systems to extract, analyse, and report on workforce data. Undertakes research and contributes to the design and implementation of P&C process improvements and strategic initiatives. Key Selection Criteria To be successful in this role will require a strong interpersonal capability, including the ability to understand diverse perspectives, recognise stakeholder motivations, and tailor communication to suit audience needs. You will demonstrate confidence and professionalism in managing difficult conversations by assessing options, negotiating effective outcomes, and supporting others to build their negotiation capability. Well-developed critical thinking skills are essential, enabling you to interpret guidelines, analyse information gaps and determine appropriate actions—independently or in consultation with others—to resolve complex issues. Applied data literacy is also required, including the ability to assess data sources, produce descriptive statistical insights, and develop accurate visualisations using advanced Excel functions such as formulas, pivot tables and charts. You will actively contribute to innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency and outcomes, leveraging existing systems, and fostering a culture of learning and feedback. A collaborative approach is vital, promoting cooperative team environments, sharing information across groups, and providing support during challenging situations. Qualifications and Experience Experience working within a HR environment, demonstrating the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement. (mandatory) Awareness of, and experience in, employment frameworks relating to Executives in a public sector environment. (mandatory) Tertiary qualification in a Human Resources or relevant field.
