Position Overview The Retail and Visitor Support role is the first point of contact for visitors to the Museum. This role supports the daily operations of the museum and SAM Shop by providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the safety and security of visitors and artworks, and assisting with general visitor services. Key Responsibilities Welcoming visitors and providing information about exhibitions, programs and museum services Supporting shop sales, merchandising, ticketing, memberships, and POS transactions Assisting with opening and closing procedures, visitor liaison and general operational tasks Maintaining the presentation, security and care of the gallery spaces and shop Supporting programs, events and activities as required Our Ideal Candidate Experience in a busy customer service environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships The ability to problem-solve using procedures, guidelines and prior experience Confidence in written and verbal communication A commitment to high-quality customer service in a retail environment Enjoyment in working with diverse visitors and colleagues Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage competing priorities Reliability in escalating issues when needed Ability to meet the physical demands of the role while following OH&S requirements Computer literacy, including POS, EFTPOS, Excel and online sales systems An interest in visual arts and working in a cultural organisation How to Apply Applications must be submitted via Seek and include a cover letter and resume.
