About the Company Davidson are working with a state government department who are seeking AO6 Senior Business Development Officer. About the Role The successful candidates will support Indigenous tourism business development in the Northern Peninsula and Torres Strait Islands. This full-time position involves travel within the region and collaboration with teams in Cairns and Brisbane. The role requires flexibility to work from various offices and includes 38 hours over five days per week. Key Responsibilities Drive Indigenous tourism initiatives and foster relationships with Indigenous communities and stakeholders, including government and business associations. Act as the liaison between Indigenous businesses and government to facilitate tourism development. Provide guidance to Indigenous businesses in defining their vision and securing collaborations. Address emerging issues in Indigenous tourism and support government officials in meetings. Develop and implement tourism initiatives aligned with government strategies. Showcase Indigenous tourism success through case studies and other forms of media. Deliver high‑level briefings and reports on tourism policy to management and stakeholders. Participate in multi‑disciplinary project teams and represent the department at relevant meetings. About You Strong cultural understanding and trust‑building skills, particularly within the Indigenous community. Experience and networks in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business communities. Proactive, autonomous, and capable of fast‑paced work. Willingness to travel and engage with various stakeholders. Background in commercial business development and collaboration within the tourism sector desirable Familiarity with government processes and experience in a government role also desirable The Benefits Competitive daily rate with superannuation.
