Applications Close: Friday 2 January 2026 Apply to: Business Manager – **********@noosasteiner.qld.edu.au Start Date: Term 1 2026 Employment Status: 0.6 FTE Hours of Duty: Negotiable, school hours available Responsible to: Business Manager Position Purpose The Human Resources Administrator plays a key role in supporting the wellbeing, development, and professional life of all staff within the school. This role combines sound HR practice with a deep understanding of the school’s ethos ensuring the school attracts, develops, and retains high-quality staff, nurturing respectful relationships, transparent communication, and a positive, collaborative culture aligned with the school’s values. The position provides both strategic and day-to-day HR guidance, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and awards, while upholding the human-centred values that define our school environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Recruitment and Staffing Take ownership of the end-to-end recruitment process and manage all internal and external recruitment requirements including the facilitation and scheduling of interviews, reference checks, liaising with agencies, participating in interview panels and finalisation of offers of employment. Update and monitor position descriptions in consultation with the relevant management team members. Oversee the administration of employee probationary reviews and confirmation of appointments. Maintain organisational charts. Oversee staff induction, orientation, and probation processes, design and deliver meaningful induction and onboarding experiences for new staff, ensuring they feel welcomed into the school. 2. HR Policy, Compliance, and Governance Lead organisational compliance with all existing legal and government requirements including WHS, anti-discrimination, equal employment opportunity, national employment standards, Fair Work and the NPSS Enterprise Agreement. Assist in managing processes associated with disciplinary action, grievances, industrial relations and employment contract management. Maintain and update HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements, school policy and best practice. Manage Blue Card and teacher registration compliance and maintain accurate staff records. Support audit and reporting requirements for regulatory bodies and school governance. 3. Employee Relations and Culture Provide consultancy advice to management and staff generally in relation to workplace issues, conditions of employment, performance appraisals, staff development and disciplinary action. Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture consistent with the school’s ethos. Coordinate wellbeing, recognition, and professional engagement initiatives. Support leaders in managing performance, feedback, and conflict resolution constructively. Provide confidential advice and guidance to staff on employment-related matters. Always uphold confidentiality and professionalism. 4. Payroll and Employment Administration Prepare and issue employment contracts, ensuring conditions are consistent with the relevant Awards and Enterprise Agreements. Maintain HR information systems (TASS). Work collaboratively with the Finance team to ensure accurate and timely payroll data and contract administration. Liaise with Payroll Officer as required to assist with payroll discrepancies, contractual issues and remuneration reviews. 5. Professional Development Support and coordinate professional learning for all staff. Track compliance training (e.g. Child Protection, Workplace Health and Safety). Assist in workforce planning and succession planning initiatives. 6. Work Health and Safety (WHS) Support the WHS Committee and the Management staff to ensure a safe working environment for all staff. Maintain incident reporting and risk management documentation as required. Oversee the Work Cover process and Return to Work program to promote healthy and safe work practices. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in an educational setting. Hold a current Working with Children Blue Card or capacity to attain one. Sound knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial relations, and HR compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of Awards and Enterprise Agreements. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills. Capacity to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Evidence of eligibility to work in Australia. Qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety. Experience working within an independent or Steiner school context. Familiarity with the Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020 and Teachers Award 2020.
