Southport State School is on the lookout for a reliable, skilled, and independent Schools Officer to maintain the grounds to a high standard and ensure the delivery of basic facility needs. We are seeking a proactive individual who is dedicated to keeping the school environment safe, clean, and well-presented. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges. About The School Southport State School is a medium-sized primary school offering education from Prep to Year 6. Key Responsibilities Include Performing day‑to‑day tasks such as delivering mail, setting up classrooms, and maintaining school supplies. Supporting security duties, including locking/unlocking buildings and maintaining security systems. Undertaking grounds maintenance, including mowing, gardening, and caring for outdoor sporting facilities. Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards, including safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment. Coordinating repairs and liaising with tradespersons to maintain school facilities. Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the school, including those which relate to furniture and equipment. Liaise with various internal and external personnel (e.g. tradespersons). The Following traits would be beneficial Experience in groundskeeping, facilities maintenance, or similar roles. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and follow set instructions. Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices. Effective communication skills to liaise with staff, students, and external personnel.
