It offers a three-year Bachelor of Vision Science undergraduate program, which can be taken as a standalone degree with the option of an honours year or lead to a two-year Master of Clinical Optometry at the postgraduate level. The role of Lecturer – Education Focused reports to the Director of Teaching or designate and has no direct reports. As a Lecturer – Education Focused, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of optometrists by bringing your expertise in ocular diseases and therapeutics to life. You’ll craft and deliver engaging lectures and tutorials across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, guided by a clear teaching philosophy that inspires curiosity and deep learning. Beyond the classroom, you’ll lead the way in developing innovative teaching strategies—whether through blended learning, online platforms, or cutting-edge curriculum design—supported by a collaborative academic team. Key responsibilities include: Managing course administration and coordinating subjects Advicing students and ensuring rigorous assessment standards Designing and implementing curriculum and assessments Playing an active role in educational research and continuous professional development Skills & Experience Registered as Optometrist in Australia with expertise in ocular therapeutics and active engagement with clinical optometry developments Demonstrated ability for teaching and curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including experience using blended/online teaching and learning pedagogies Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., leading-edge discipline-based curriculum design and development) Capability to enhance student learning and career‑focused education, including assessment practices and work‑integrated learning Evidence of professional development of teaching practice, mentoring, tutor development, and peer support of colleagues Excellence in educational quality assurance and accreditation Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to support diverse staff and students and contribute to Student Equity Diversity and Inclusion initiatives Benefits And Culture 17% Superannuation and leave loading Flexible working Additional 3 days of leave over the Christmas Period Access to lifelong learning and career development Progressive HR practices How To Apply Please click Apply now to submit your application online.
