Director, Water Planning - Flexible Queensland Government Overview The Director Water Planning position within North Region, DLGWV will lead the Unlocking Water team and deliver on key departmental priorities. You will lead and manage a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver water availability and security in Queensland’s water plans project and undertake an analysis of all 23 regional water plans to identify opportunities for economic development, strategic unallocated water releases, water markets, increased consumptive water, and trading opportunities. Key Accountabilities Lead and manage a geographically dispersed team of 5 staff to deliver the Unlocking Water project. Undertake technical assessments (environmental, economic, social, hydrologic, cultural) and stakeholder engagement. Engage with the Commonwealth on accredited water resource plans and related matters. Represent the department at state and national water forums. Deliver science programs supporting water planning and intergovernmental agreements. Lead engagement with First Nations peoples to support Indigenous water reserves. Other duties as directed. About You Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multi‑disciplinary teams. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and emotional intelligence. Experience presenting to senior stakeholders, executives, and ministers. A current “C” class driver’s licence is desirable.
