Deputy Director General Public and Aboriginal Health | Chief Health Officer Salary: An attractive remuneration package commensurate with the position will be offered Location: East Perth WA Unit / Division: Department of Health Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time Position Closing Date: 4:00 PM Fixed Term, Full Time appointment for five (5) years. Position The role of Deputy Director General, Public and Aboriginal Health Division | Chief Health Officer requires a committed, progressive and experienced executive leader to undertake a strategic leadership role in shaping the delivery of Public and Aboriginal Health while also being the Chief Health Officer for the Western Australian community. Profile The Deputy Director General, Public and Aboriginal Division | Chief Health Officer will provide high‑level leadership and vision for public health in Western Australia and will have experience in public health programmes at the State or National Level. The role requires strong capability and engagement with technical experts and leaders across government and the broader health sector. The Deputy Director General, Public and Aboriginal Division | Chief Health Officer is required to be proactive and systematic in dealing with complex problems and has an innate ability to understand and operate in a government environment. The Chief Health Officer is the government’s spokesperson on matters relating to public health and must have a confident public persona, excellent judgement, communication skills, and the ability to be trusted. Qualities and expertise include: Significant clinical experience to lead system-wide public health reform initiatives to promote good health in the community; preventing diseases and managing health risk. Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills. Ability to inspire and drive high-performing teams. Proven analytical, strategic and problem‑solving skills.
