Primary Objective Responsible for 24/7 operations and support to the bail accommodation team to deliver effective, efficient and safe operations of the government ownedand operated Youth Supported Bail Facility. This position has a lead role in delivering a safe working environment for staff and ensuring the needs of youngpeople are met within a safe, secure and culturally therapuetic setting in accordance with the Model of Care and relevant legislation. Key Duties and Responsibilities Be responsible for the supervision, training and development of a team of staff involved in the delivery of 24/7 supported accommodation services. Maintain a high level of services to the youth bail clients through the provision of professional expertise and demonstrated best practice in the delivery of supported accommodation youth justice services. Promote awareness of and respect for Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander culture, kinship, values and beliefs, ensuring that cultural needs are appropriatelyrepresented in all activities, policies, directives and programs. Oversee the coordination and ensure team and client contribution towards, the daily and weekly planning of educational and therapeutic activities andservices for youth residing at the bail accommodation. Develop partnerships with a range of stakeholders to facilitate effective detention centre program delivery. Ensure the availability of reliable data through the accurate and timely recording of information on the relevant client information and case managementsystems. Ensure there is a principled approach, and that staff adhere to the Corrections values and Code of Conduct and demonstrate exemplary behaviourreflective of the department’s values and Code of Conduct. Participate in the Community Youth Justice after hours service. Essential Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience of operational requirements of youth supported bail or similar facilities, including staff and financial management anddevelopment of operational and security procedures within legislatively based systems. Demonstrated high level working knowledge of Youth Justice Act 2005 (or similar legislation) and youth supported accommodation settings along withbroad knowledge of government processes, reporting and governance requirements. Working knowledge or understanding of the social and cultural issues affecting Indigenous people in the NT and their impact upon the development,implementation, delivery and evaluation of youth supported accommodation services and programs. Proven experience in the effective management and leadership of, and wellbeing and development of, other staff and a demonstrated commitment toEqual Employment Opportunity, Anti-discrimination and Work Health and Safety. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver continuous improvement in activities and systems. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues within Youth Justice and a commitment to work toward positive change in accordance with theagency’s Strategic Direction. A high level of interpersonal and written communication skills, and capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with young people whilstmaintaining professional boundaries. High level of personal integrity and ethical standards to ensure you will be an exemplar of the agency’s values and Code of Conduct at all times. Hold completed MAYBO (conflict management and physical intervention) training certificate or possess the ability and willingness to undertake thistraining prior to commencement in the role. Current NT Drivers Licence or the ability to obtain. Desirable Selection Criteria Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline such as Criminology and Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or similar. Senior First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation or ability to acquire.
