The Business Privately owned, well-regarded and independent integrated accounting, financial advisory and wealth management firm In business for more than 30 years with an excellent reputation and high-net worth, long term clients Leverages deep technical knowledge, comprehensive service delivery to maintain a strong competitive position in their chosen areas of specialty The Position Reporting to one of the Directors, the Associate Director role will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and therefore an integral part of planning and decision making for the Business Services division The Associate Director will be mentored on the journey toward partnership and due to the relatively flat structure of this business, will have significant autonomy in managing the day-to-day operations of their team This position forms part of the firm’s succession plan as some key leaders head towards retirement in the coming few years. We are therefore, seeking individuals who are energetic, passionate and ambitious with strong leadership characteristics You will have mastered the art of delegation and be keen to shift your focus to strategy, commercial activities and high-end client engagement Key Responsibilities Share the load of the existing directors by taking on a long-standing portfolio of client engagements and leading a team to deliver the highest quality of services and maintain compliance standards Drive business growth and improve the operational side of the business and be the mid-point between the leadership team and the accounting teams Maintain client relationships, provide strategic business management and tax advice and ensure that all financial reporting and tax obligations of clients are met accurately and on time Make a significant contribution to the firm’s reputation, client & staff retention and overall commercial success Lead and mentor a team and provide growth opportunities, motivation and continuous professional development; monitor compliance, working papers, workflow, and levels of client engagement Work with the Directors on business development and strategic initiatives and contribute to the development of new service offerings and improvements Attend high level client meetings, networking events and act as a representative of the firm’s business services expertise Who we are looking for Outstanding degree of technical knowledge and tax expertise across all types of clients including small business Excellent team management and leadership skills so that the team remains committed, energised and motivated High levels of EQ and ability to deal with clients and employees with diplomacy, confidentiality and professionalism Strong commercial acumen with an ambition and desire to progress in this area Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and delivery abilities Well-developed project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple engagements and deadlines; effective time management will be crucial More than 5 years in a management role within Public practice accounting - Business Services and ideally more than 10 years in the industry Recognised tertiary qualifications in accounting / finance or a related field are essential as is a CA or CPA professional certification Why you should apply?
