(Senior) Battery Trading & Market Access Software Specialist Location: Sydney, NSW (with collaboration across Australian renewables projects)Type: Full-time OptiGrid is accelerating Australia’s energy transition by enabling efficient operations of large-scale batteries and renewable assets. Using AI-powered forecasting and optimisation models tailored to the National Electricity Market (NEM), we help asset owners, developers, and operators maximise returns, manage risk, and enhance the performance of their batteries and hybrid renewable systems. About Our Platform OptiBidder : Our flagship software that combines advanced price forecasting, proprietary bidding models, and flexible controls to automate market bidding and dispatch decisions across the NEM. We support both stand‑alone batteries and hybrid renewable systems (e.g., wind+storage), forecasting market volatility, health metrics, and technical constraints to optimise lifetime revenue and operational performance. Role Overview You’ll join the Market Access & Intraday Solutions team, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver best-in-class software support and enhancements for battery trading: Provide 2nd-line technical support and resolve platform issues. Collaborate with asset managers and software vendors to integrate trading strategies and automate market orders. Monitor asset performance, market pricing signals, and system health across front‑office environments. Implement and enhance features using Java , Python , and modern frameworks. Leverage telemetry and metrics tools like Splunk , Grafana , Kafka , and Jenkins for observability, CI/CD pipelines, and scheduling. Engage in agile SCRUM events, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. What You Bring Degree in Engineering , Computer Science , Data Science , or similar. Hands‑on experience in software development (Java, Python) in fast‑moving, event‑driven systems. Familiarity with low‑latency architectures, real‑time asset control, and market interfacing. Experience—or keen interest—in energy market platforms, bidding systems, and connection with trading infrastructure. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset for problem‑solving across the full service chain—from vendor coordination to code deployment. Why Join OptiGrid?
