St Hilda’s School | Gold Coast | Queensland Commencing: January 2026 - June 2026 / Possibility of extension 2 days/week St Hilda’s School, Gold Coast invites applications for the position of School Psychologist commencing January 2026. As our School Psychologist, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students. Working in alignment with the St Hilda’s School Counselling Policy, you will provide psychological support and counselling to individual students and groups. Collaborating closely with parents, teachers, and school leadership, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive both personally and academically. This is a part time role – 2 days per week, 8.00am - 4.00pm, ideally worked Wednesdays and Thursdays, although this could be negotiated for the right applicant. About You We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to join our Psychologist Team. In this role, you will work closely with students, families, and staff to promote mental health, academic success, and social‑emotional development across our school community. Reporting to the Deputy Principal – Strategic Projects, People and Culture, you will demonstrate a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges of girls, and will be committed to empowering young women to Be Anything through emotional wellbeing, personal growth and connectedness. As the School Psychologist, you will undertake the following responsibilities including but not limited to: Responsibilities Provide individual and group counselling to students and their families experiencing social, emotional, physical or academic concerns Conduct appropriate assessment of student needs and devise strategies to enhance welfare and education outcomes for students Collaborate with staff to ensure holistic support for students and devise and deliver preventative mental health programmes, and support wellbeing and learning Provide risk and safety assessments Provide referrals for students to the appropriate external health professionals Deliver workshops on topics impacting girls such as stress management, self‑esteem, study skills, healthy relationships, nutrition and body image Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date notes and files Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements Formal qualifications at Degree level in psychology with post‑graduate qualifications in educational psychology, child and adolescent psychology, student counselling or school psychology desirable Experience working in a school environment, with adolescents or liaising with schools an advantage Evidence of general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) Current First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain prior to commencement Occasional after‑hours work such as evenings and weekends may be required as we are a boarding school What We Offer Professional development opportunities Working within a team of Psychologists Supportive, collegial work environment The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young women's lives Selection Criteria Educational Qualifications and Professional Registration Degree‑level qualification in Psychology Current general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) First Aid and CPR certification Counselling and Therapeutic Skills Demonstrated ability to provide effective individual and group counselling to students and families addressing social, emotional, physical, and academic concerns Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with adolescent girls and their families Ability to work therapeutically with diverse presenting issues in a school context Assessment and Intervention Proven capability to conduct comprehensive assessments of student needs using appropriate psychological tools and frameworks Ability to develop and implement evidence‑based intervention strategies that enhance welfare and educational outcomes Experience in conducting risk and safety assessments and implementing appropriate response protocols Collaborative Practice and Program Development Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with teaching staff, leadership, and families to provide holistic student support Experience designing and delivering preventative mental health programmes and wellbeing initiatives Ability to develop and facilitate workshops on topics relevant to adolescent girls including stress management, self‑esteem, study skills, healthy relationships, nutrition, and body image Professional Practice Standards Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, confidential and up‑to‑date case notes and documentation in accordance with professional and legal requirements Knowledge of mandatory reporting obligations and duty of care responsibilities Understanding of referral pathways and ability to connect students with appropriate external health professionals Why Join St Hilda’s School?
