Overview Data Engineer at Cover Genius is responsible for developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and data infrastructure for analytics, machine learning, and reporting platforms. About The Role As a Data Engineer in our data team, you will own the development and maintenance of data pipelines and data infrastructure to support analytics, machine learning, and reporting. You will use SQL and Python to design and implement the data platform on cloud-based services and collaborate with data scientists, software engineers and other data users to ensure data availability and accuracy. Key Responsibilities Design and implement efficient data pipelines to collect, process, and store large volumes of data from SQL sources, APIs, and streaming data. Maintain and operate the data platform using Airflow, dbt, Dataflow, ClickHouse and BigQuery. Aim to achieve defined data availability and quality KPIs. Implement data governance and security measures to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices. Troubleshoot data-related issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures. Support machine learning engineers to create real-time and batch data pipelines that fit data specifications and ML inference needs. Support analytics engineers to build data models and metrics for product performance. What you will bring B.S. in Computer Science or a related STEM field Minimum 3 years of experience as a data engineer Strong proficiency with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or similar Proficient SQL and Python coding skills to deliver reliable data engineering and/or ML solutions Experience developing Airflow or other open-source data orchestration tools and operating them in production Experience building AI agents is a bonus Proficiencies And Attributes You treat data as a product and take end-to-end responsibility for its journey. You navigate ambiguous business requirements and lead projects to deliver reliable, well-defined datasets and data platforms with measurable impact. You are passionate about the evolving data landscape and explore modern tools and methodologies. You stay updated on advancements like lakehouse architectures (e.g., Iceberg, Delta Lake) and improved orchestration frameworks to improve data systems. You prioritize data integrity and trustworthiness, building testable, observable pipelines with automation and cost awareness.
