Trainee Clinical Coder, Queensland Health Queensland Government – Sunshine Coast QLD Full time, Contract, Traineeship, Part time, Casual/Temporary We’re excited to welcome a Clinical Coder to our Clinical Coding Service. As a Clinical Coder you are a critical member of the Clinical Coding Service, responsible for ensuring accurate assignment of codes from ICD-10-AM and Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and applying the Australian Coding Standards (ACS). Code assignment occurs after effective abstraction of relevant clinical information from patient medical records. You will actively participate in quality and optimisation coding audits, undertake data quality activities as they apply to the inpatient dataset, and maintain your clinical and coding professional knowledge. Clinical Coding Services sits within the Finance & Business Services portfolio at the Sunshine Coast Hospital & Health Service (SCHHS), which provides financial leadership, business advice, and strategic financial policy and governance to enable SCHHS to deliver quality and efficient health services to the community. Key Responsibilities Undertake clinical coding of Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS. Manage workload to achieve local Health Service and State data and activity reporting deadlines. Contribute to the quality of the coding service through personal development and awareness of updates in coding practice. Actively participate in SCHHS auditing and education programs.
