Cathy's Helping Hands is an NDIS service provider specialising in delivering quality, individualized and flexible support services to the elderly, mental health clients, and young and old people living with a disability. We also provide services to clients outside the NDIS, including those on work compensation and in the private sector. Candidates must obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check within 60 days of commencement. After significant growth, we are looking for support workers and cleaners to join our team for an immediate start and help drive our business forward. We are looking for experienced support workers in the Canberra and Queanbeyan areas to work with people with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The ideal candidate will be seeking stable and consistent work, happy to work with flexible availability, available to work 2–8 hour shifts, including active overnight shifts. Requirements Minimum of 6 months experience in disability support or aged care. Australian citizenship. Working with Vulnerable People check within 30 days of commencement. NDIS Worker Screening Check within 60 days of commencement. Location Canberra and Queanbeyan areas. Tasks & Responsibilities Support the development of daily living skills and capacity for self‑care. Provide timely and accurate case notes. Develop professional relationships with individuals, their families and others in the community. Manage challenging behaviours when they arise. Provide support to work towards individual goals. Perform cleaning duties for clients' homes. Typical Day‑to‑Day Activities Invite clients into their homes to clean bathrooms, kitchens, vacuum, mop, dust, fold clothes. Meet clients for tea or coffee and conversation about their week. Help them with daily living tasks such as shopping for groceries or attending doctor’s appointments. Enjoy recreational activities like ten‑pin bowling, walks in the park. Assist with personal administration, e.g., Centrelink, paying bills, looking for housing. Support clients in social situations by visiting local shopping centres. Promote physical health by encouraging gym attendance or outdoor exercise. Assist with gardening or cleaning to help clients live independently.
