Love the land? Passionate about conservation? Ready to lead boots‑on‑ground action in some of the most iconic landscapes along the Central Queensland Coast? Pioneer Catchment Landcare is on the lookout for a Senior Field Officer to coordinate and deliver vital on‑ground environmental projects across our stunning catchment – from coastal wetlands to rainforest edges. Key Duties and Responsibilities Senior Field Officer As part of Pioneer Catchment Landcares dynamic and passionate team, the Senior Field Officer will play a central role in leading the delivery of environmental restoration, community engagement, and landholder support activities across our diverse catchment from the coast to the highlands. Project Delivery & Team Leadership Coordinate and deliver on‑ground works across bushland, riparian, wetland, coastal, and agricultural landscapes in line with project work plans and ecological best practice. Supervise and mentor a small team of Field Officers and casual staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality implementation of restoration and conservation activities. Plan and prioritise daily tasks and resourcing (equipment, vehicles, materials) to meet project milestones. Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of new field staff and volunteers. Technical & Safety Compliance Develop and implement Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and Risk Assessments tailored to each project site. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of PCLs tools, machinery, and vehicles, ensuring all plant and equipment are safe and operational. Maintain accurate records of pesticide and herbicide usage in accordance with PCLs compliance systems and Queensland chemical regulations. Deliver field‑based training on equipment use, revegetation methods, weed ID and control, and monitoring techniques. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation Conduct site monitoring using digital tools (e.g., Fulcrum, Survey123, iNaturalist) and contribute to biodiversity, weed, and erosion assessments. Maintain accurate field records, photo points, check sheets, and progress reports for internal and external reporting requirements. Contribute to social media content, event displays, and written case studies to showcase project impact. This role offers strong potential for growth, with opportunities to advance into operational management. Why Work With PCL? Real‑World Impact – Be part of meaningful, on‑ground projects that improve biodiversity, protect waterways, restore habitats, and build climate resilience across the Pioneer Catchment. Variety and Purpose – No two days are the same – from coastal wetlands to mountain ridges, you’ll work across diverse landscapes with hands‑on conservation outcomes. Respect and Recognition – Your skills, knowledge, and practical know‑how are valued. You’ll be part of a trusted and established team making a difference across the region. Supportive Team Environment – Join a down‑to‑earth, friendly team that values safety, good communication, and shared success. Tools and Training Provided – Access to quality vehicles, equipment, PPE, and ongoing training in weed ID, revegetation techniques, drone mapping, and digital monitoring tools. Strong Local Networks – Work alongside landholders, Traditional Owners, schools, and government partners. Your role helps strengthen community resilience and environmental stewardship. Career Progression – Opportunities to step into operational management roles as the organisation grows – contribute to planning, mentoring, and larger‑scale project delivery. Work‑Life Balance – no shift work, weekends, or away camps. If you’re ready to work with purpose, enjoy practical, rewarding days outdoors, and want to be part of a respected local team that’s making a visible difference – this is your chance. Pioneer Catchment Landcare offers more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to take ownership, lead with pride, and help shape the future of our natural landscape.
