QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government‑owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities. About The Role You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing workplace health and safety (WHS) advice, services, and assistance to the department, including a diverse range of WHS activities and technical matters relating to the building, construction and maintenance industry. Duties And Skills Involved Managing the development and delivery of WHS training and information sessions for the region, including liaising with external providers when needed and supervising administration of maintenance of the regional WHS training register. Providing WHS&E advice, support and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding QBuild Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, legislative compliance and new technologies. Managing and support the team to conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure work compliance, including for both QBuild and contractor delivered work. Leading the investigation of incident and hazard investigations, producing reporting as required, as well as educating QBuild staff with reporting incidents. Managing the offices and depot to ensure emergency planning and response activities are completed. Leading the development and implementation of SMSs, risk assessments, WHS management plans and any other WHS management system processes as needed by the region. Providing senior management with formal reports on health and safety KPI's and support the regional management team in the management of the rehabilitation of staff. Ensuring formal WHS&E reporting to the region and business is completed as required. Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of the region's WHS team, including providing coaching and mentoring to enhance capability.
