Employment Type : Permanent Full TimeHours Per Week : 38Location : Canterbury HospitalApplications Close : 10 December 2025 - 11:59pm About The Opportunity NSW Health Pathology currently has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Multidisciplinary laboratory team at The Canterbury Hospital in a permanent full‑time position. Join a dynamic and dedicated team providing excellence in patient care and committed to making a real impact on the lives of our patients and the community As part of our team, you’ll carry out a variety of laboratory investigations and provide essential pathology and transfusion support across a broad spectrum of clinical services. We welcome candidates with prior experience in Chemistry, Haematology and/or Transfusion; however, this is not essential as comprehensive training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your skills while contributing to high‑quality healthcare services in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. Please note that this position entails weekend work, public holiday shifts, and overnight shifts. Undertake other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols. Qualifications and Experience Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems. Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations. Customer focused approach displaying well‑developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff. Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment. Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities. Willingness and availability to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends, public holidays, and overnight shifts.
