You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great. Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking a passionate Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Microbiology. You will play a key role in shaping our new veterinary program by developing and delivering clinically oriented microbiology and infectious disease learning experiences. Your microbiology expertise, commitment to student-centred teaching and collaborative approach will be central to building our microbiology curriculum and advancing our teaching, research and community partnerships. You will make an impact by: Designing and delivering foundational and clinically relevant microbiology curricula across bacteriology, virology, parasitology, immunology and infectious disease. Creating engaging learning experiences—case-based tutorials, practical labs, simulations and digital resources, and contribute to clinical curriculum—aligned to accreditation and contemporary veterinary practice. Advancing teaching innovation and scholarship, producing discipline-based or SoLT research, and contributing to accreditation, quality assurance and community-of-practice engagement. Building strong professional partnerships with diagnostic labs, clinicians and industry to enrich teaching, support Work Integrated Learning, and establish the Veterinary Microbiology discipline. What you will bring You are an educator and microbiologist who enjoys helping students connect foundational microbiological principles with real-world infectious disease practice. You value collaboration, innovation and the opportunity to shape a cutting-edge veterinary program from the ground up. To succeed in this role, you will also need: A degree in veterinary science/medicine, along with advanced qualifications relevant to Veterinary Microbiology, e.g. PhD (or near completion); Diplomate (ACVM/ECVM) or Membership/Fellowship (ANZCVS); and/or commensurate professional experience. Formal qualifications in higher education teaching would also be viewed favourably. Demonstrated teaching experience or capacity in veterinary microbiology (bacteriology, mycology, virology, parasitology) with a commitment to practical and clinically oriented instruction. Experience in innovative curriculum and assessment design aligned with good academic practice, clinical application, evidence-based design principles, and veterinary accreditation standards. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage diverse learners, colleagues, diagnostic labs, clinicians and external stakeholders. Academic Level B or C.The base salary for a Level B ranges from $114,482 - $135,392 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $158,408.The base salary for a Level C ranges from $139,568 - $160,473 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation.
