Base pay range A$106,575.00/yr - A$118,257.00/yr Band 6 Annualised $106,575 - $118,257 + super Permanent role at the City of Ballarat Flexible working arrangements About The Role The role of the Strategic Planner is to provide strategic land use planning advice, contribute to development and implementation of policy and to support the Senior Strategic Planners, Coordinator Strategic Planner and Manager Strategic Planner in completing strategic land use planning projects. Key Selection Criteria Qualifications and experience as listed in the Position description. Proven ability to work cooperatively and positively as part of a team, in a sensitive and confidential environment and develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external parties. Highly competent verbal and written communication skills, including customer service skills and the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external parties. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and to investigate, prepare and present high quality reports and recommendations, with the ability to think broadly and creatively in devising solutions. Demonstrated knowledge of the Victoria Planning Provisions and the Planning and Environment Act 1987, in particular the planning scheme amendment process. Ability to plan, co‑ordinate and prioritise a demanding workload, along with responsibility, resourcefulness and initiative to complete objectives within given timelines. About You To be considered for this opportunity, City of Ballarat is seeking a Strategic Planner who has knowledge in strategic planning, practices and trends including the planning scheme amendment process and relevant legislation. You have a recognised qualification in town planning or a related profession, along with relevant public and/or private sector experience in the field of strategic or statutory planning. You are highly competent with IT skills, including in GIS systems and possess a strong ability to develop innovative, efficient and practical solutions to issues. You will have excellent communication skills to assist in discussions and resolutions with the community, government, private sector representatives and Council staff.
