Be the welcoming face of Njernda Corporate Services Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a professional and culturally respectful Receptionist to support the Corporate Services team. As the first point of contact for community members, staff, Elders, visitors and partners arriving at Corporate Services, you will play an important role in creating a warm, organised, and welcoming environment. This position manages reception operations, provides administrative support, and ensures enquiries, visitors, mail and office activities are handled efficiently and respectfully. The role contributes to the smooth running of Corporate Services and upholds Njernda’s values of respect, accountability, cultural sensitivity and community care. PLEASE NOTE: This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only. In this role, you will: Provide a positive, culturally respectful front‑of‑house experience for all visitors and callers Manage phone calls, visitor sign‑in, mail, boardroom bookings, office supplies and daily reception tasks Maintain clean, safe, culturally welcoming reception and waiting areas Provide administrative support including filing, scanning, data entry, scheduling and document preparation Support coordination of maintenance, fleet vehicles, Board meetings, events, and Corporate Services activities About You: Certificate III or higher in Business/Office Administration or related field Strong communication and customer service skills, with sensitivity when supporting Aboriginal community members Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common office systems (phones, scanning, lamination etc.) Highly organised, able to prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar reception or administration role Support an efficient and positive Corporate Services team and create a welcoming space for community, staff and visitors. Selection Criteria Essential: Qualifications Certificate III or higher in Business Administration, Office Administration, or a related field. Skills A proven knowledge and understanding of aboriginal people and Aboriginal culture An ability to handle issues in a sensitive and appropriate manner. Good negotiation and customer support skills Excellent verbal communication skills, with a strong customer service focus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and experience in using multi‑line phone systems and various office systems (fax, scanning, lamination etc.) Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently or as part of a team. Experience 2 years of experience in similar field. Satisfactory evidence of: Pre‑employment checks not limited to at least two professional referees Proof of identity and qualifications, National police check, Working with Children’s Check, full Victorian driver’s licence, disclosure of any pre‑existing illness/injury and vaccination status in line with Njernda’s current policy and procedure As applicable, eligibility to work in Australia, professional/regulatory licences, registration and current good standing, and clearance on aged care banning orders.
