Job Description - Assistant Principal Special Education - General - Goulburn Public School (0000B2QH) Assistant Principal Special Education - General - Goulburn Public School - 0000B2QH Location Goulburn Public School, Queanbeyan Number of Positions 1 Closing Date 10-Dec-2025, 5:00:00 AM Job Category TCH Other Organisation Teaching Service Position Information Goulburn Public School is dedicated to fostering a strong learning culture through teamwork and whole‑school commitment to high expectations for all students' progress and achievement. The school collaborates closely with the community to support student success and offers excellent facilities for diverse learning opportunities. With an enrolment of 186 students, including 27% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and 25% from non‑English‑speaking backgrounds, the school provides inclusive education. It also operates three support classes with smaller teacher‑to‑student ratios to deliver tailored support for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Specific Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism and intellectual disabilities within a support unit. Demonstrated ability to lead and support staff in adopting differentiated teaching strategies that foster an inclusive classroom environment, and to use data effectively to inform teaching practices and improve student outcomes, particularly for students with additional needs. Demonstrated evidence of successfully planning, delivering, and modifying educational programmes to meet the diverse needs of students with disability, including experience working with Personalised Learning and Support Plans (IEPs) and applying strategies that support student engagement and development. Proven ability to build positive partnerships with families and carers, empowering them as active participants in their child's education, and to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement holistic support plans for students. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programmes. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
