The centre's main aim is to provide a safe, friendly environment for people over the age of 50 years to meet and participate in activities that will provide physical, mental and social wellbeing. As a volunteer Kitchen Assistant, your work will directly impact the lives of older adults, bringing comfort, joy, and connection through the shared experience of a good meal. If you enjoy cooking, are a team player, and want to contribute to the well‑being of seniors, this is the perfect opportunity for you Responsibilities Open the kitchen and create a welcoming space where seniors can come together to enjoy nourishing meals and connect with others. Prepare and serve morning tea, coffee, and lunch with care, knowing that your efforts help provide nutritious and affordable meals to our community. Assist with meal preparation by chopping fresh salads, preparing side dishes, and baking delicious cakes and slices for our members to enjoy. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen by washing up, sanitising surfaces, and ensuring food safety practices, so that every meal is prepared in a safe and hygienic environment protecting the health and well‑being of our senior community. Engage with the easy visual cash register to process lunch orders and payments, contributing to a seamless, efficient service that helps the centre run smoothly and keeps our members satisfied. Support fellow volunteers and members with a friendly, helpful attitude. Your positive energy enhances the atmosphere of the centre, ensuring everyone feels valued and respected. Help shape the weekly menu by providing input and assisting with the shopping list, ensuring that meals are varied, nutritious, and cater to the needs and preferences of our seniors. Onsite training in our supportive environment is provided to all volunteers. By carrying out these duties, you'll play a vital role in creating a space where our senior members feel cared for, valued, and part of a vibrant community. Your efforts in the kitchen not only ensure that meals are served with love but also foster connections that bring comfort and joy to our community. Category: Seniors & Aged Care Commitment: Regular – more than 6 months Type of Work: Companionship & Social Support, Food Preparation & Service, Seniors & Aged Care Time Required: 8.30am to 2.30pm Tuesdays 1 day per fortnight minimum, more shifts available.
