Overview Senior Heavy Vehicle Mechanic – responsible for the maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and inspections of the Council’s fleet, plant equipment, and RFS machinery. Supports the Team Leader Mechanical Services – West and contributes to the local community. Must complete a pre‑employment medical check. Key Responsibilities Maintain, repair, and diagnose light and heavy vehicles, plant equipment, and RFS machinery. Perform minor welding and hydraulic repairs. Conduct roadworthy inspections. Organise and prioritise work schedules. Support staff supervision and purchasing/procurement activities as required. Qualifications Trade qualifications in heavy vehicle or plant mechanics. Motor Vehicle Inspector Certificate (Class MR) and a minimum of Class MR driver’s licence. Extensive experience in vehicle and large plant maintenance, including RFS plant and equipment. Previous experience in purchasing and procurement. Previous experience supervising staff. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work schedules. Benefits & Remuneration Annual salary package of approximately $71,192 – $78,311 plus superannuation. Permanent full‑time role (38 hours per week). Location: MidCoast Council’s Stroud Workshop (Memorial Avenue). May be required to work from other Council sites.
