Position: Consultant psychiatrist – psychotherapy supervision Employment Status: Fractional / Ongoing Hours: 4 hours per fortnight The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of Australia’s leading public healthcare providers, offering comprehensive health services across inpatient and community-based facilities and working as part of the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct to advance clinical research. About the role The role is to directly supervise RMH Mental Health Service Psychiatry Registrars in their Psychotherapy Written Case for RANZCP College requirements. The Psychotherapy Supervisor meets regularly with assigned registrars, providing individual or group supervision (typically 2‑4 registrars at a time). Issues related to the psychotherapy case or the supervisory process are first discussed with the RMH MHS Psychotherapy Coordinator, who may refer matters to higher management as needed. Please see attached PD for further details. Responsibilities • Conduct weekly supervision sessions with psychiatry registrars, either individually or in small groups. • Provide constructive feedback on psychotherapy written cases and clinical practice. • Collaborate with the RMH MHS Psychotherapy Coordinator and other training supervisors to address concerns and optimise registrars’ learning experience. • Participate in ongoing professional development and educational activities related to medical education and leadership. About you Registered with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration. Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Practitioner in long‑term psychodynamic psychotherapy with at least 2 years of supervision experience. Demonstrated additional professional development in psychodynamic psychotherapy (e.g., Certificate of Advanced Training in Psychotherapies). Current RANZCP Accredited Supervisor. Clear Police Records and Working with Children Check. Experience and interest in medical education, leadership, and training.
