2026 Ed Support Level 1-Range 2 - Library Assistant Department of Education Victoria – Melbourne VIC About the School Keilor Downs College is a large single‑campus secondary school of approximately 1,250 students located on the north‑western edge of suburban Melbourne. Students and staff reflect the many cultural backgrounds of the local community. The college has a strong record of achievement in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and provides a broad range of VCE subjects, alongside a vocational major programme and strong VET cluster participation. Role The Library Assistant will work under the direction of the Librarian to deliver an effective library service, supporting students, teachers and parents. The role requires interpersonal, administrative and technical skills, a commitment to professional growth, and the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within a team. Responsibilities Catalogue and maintain the Library Management System (Infiniti) and eBooks with the aid of SCIS. Process library books and other materials, including covering & repairs. Manage audiovisual duties, maintaining KDC Clickview Library Editor and assisting staff and students with AV equipment, digital cameras, photocopiers, computers and LCD projectors. Prepare reports such as overdue and stock‑take reports. Serve at the circulation desk and supervise the library throughout the day, particularly during recess, lunch and after‑school periods. Assist with collection maintenance, including returned material processing, shelving and general collection activities. Respond to research enquiries and explain library procedures to students and staff. Provide the Scholastic Book Club to the whole school community. Prepare requested class sets and maintain library cleanliness (reshelving, resetting furniture, tidying and fish‑tank cleaning). Support the Librarian in ensuring an effective library service. Perform any other duties appropriate to this classification that support the delivery of services. Qualifications & Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience in a school library setting and aptitude for working with secondary school students. Capacity to work and collaborate with others in a team environment. Technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position. Effective oral and written communication skills within a team environment. Commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others.
